"Young Deuces is making music with actual substance"
- Breaking & Entering

In his second album, Son of a Soldier: The Story of Dr. Jekyll's Legacy, Young Deuces embarks on a deeply personal journey inspired by the legacy of his father who is a Militarty Vet. The album was born from a poignant discovery: his father’s old rap book, filled with raw and heartfelt verses dedicated to him, written the year he was born. A note tucked within the notepad connects the past and present, igniting Deuces' creative spark.

The seven song titles inscribed in that book serve as a foundation for new tracks that delve into themes of heritage, resilience, and identity. Each song reflects not only Young Deuces’ evolution as an artist but also pays homage to the foundational lessons imparted by his father.  Deuces would go on to present the album to him on his birthday the year of the release.

The album holds special significance as the first rap in that book was a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a piece that Deuces learned and performed during Black History programs throughout his elementary and middle school years.

With rich storytelling and a blend of introspective lyrics and powerful beats, Son of a Soldier captures the essence of familial bonds and the impact of historical figures on personal narratives. Young Deuces uses this album as a tribute not only to his father’s legacy but also to the cultural heritage that shapes his identity, weaving together personal history with broader social themes. It’s a celebration of the soldier’s spirit that lives on, making this album a compelling exploration of legacy, love, and the ongoing quest for understanding in a complex world.
